Musical weekend coming up at LGAC

Filed under: events — Sarah @ 2:23 pm

Looking Glass welcomes two great acts this weekend.

Friday, Nov. 6 its the jazzy Miss Tess and the Bon Ton Parade (http://www.misstessmusic.com). Doors open at 8 pm, show starts around 8:30. And it’s an LGAC NonProfit Night. The nonprofit group who will benefit this time is SALISBURY-ROWAN CHORAL SOCIETY. They will receive a donation from each paid admission. Cost: $7 at the door. Are you having trouble deciding whether to go to the BIG CHILLi cook-off at Waterworks Art Gallery Friday or come to see Miss Tess? You don’t have to choose. Do both! If you attend the Waterworks event Friday Night, you can get into LGAC afterwards for just $1. Bring proof that you were at the Waterworks Gallery event - (a ticket stub, a chili-stained napkin, an autographed photo of the band No. 9 Coal, or whatever you can think of to prove you were there). And continue the evening with us.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, at 8 pm, the Momentary Prophets return to Looking Glass with their world indie folk music and tie-dyed art exhibit. (http://www.myspace.com/momentaryprophets). If you came to their last show here you know what a treat this is -so tell your friends. Helping us to host that evening will be The SOCK MONKEYS (art students from West Rowan High School). $5.

New York's best-dressed musical duo coming to the Looking Glass.

New York's best-dressed musical duo coming to the Looking Glass.

Looking Glass welcomes New York’s best-dressed two-man band, and bonus act: David Lamanno

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

6:30 pm $15 includes meal, reservations required

Free kazoos, impeccably tailored outfits, rowdy sing-alongs, furious banjo strumming, and a set full of quirky, clever, sometimes-naughty original tunes. That’s The Two Man Gentlemen Band’s formula for a good, old-fashioned musical spectacle. Hailing from New York City, The Two Man Gentlemen Band combines hot jazz, old-time country, tin pan alley, and vaudevillian swing to create a joyous two-man sound that is all their own. Performing with plectrum banjo, string bass, kazoos, and foot percussion, The Gentlemen whip themselves into a frenzy that is unlike any acoustic duo on the road today. With the energy of a band two or three times their numbers, The Two Man Gentlemen Band concocts a ruckus that is lively, danceable, and insanely fun.

LGAC’s own David Lamanno opens the show. Pizza and more included in the $15 ticket. Reservations required-call 704-633-2787 or contact salisburyartists@gmail.com.
