KIDS NIGHT ART
As part of the Downtown Salisbury Inc. Kids’ Night Out event, the Rail Walk Arts District at the corner of North Lee and East Kerr Streets will be holding “Kids’ Night Art.”
Arts organizations and businesses will take part in this expo, giving out information about local arts and entertainment opportunities being offered this fall for young people.
There will be a trolley stop in front of the Looking Glass Artist Collective’s Black Box theater, where visitors can take part inside with art activities being held rain or shine, admission free.
Green Goat Gallery and Looking Glass will both be providing hands-on art experiences, and the Salisbury Symphony’s Musical Instrument Petting Zoo will be there. Amadeus Youth Chorus will have a presentation, and fairies from Carolina Lily will be giving away candy “to good girls and boys,” while magician Buddy Farnam proves “It’s Fun to be Fooled.”

Rowan Blues and Jazz Society Birthday Bash fundraiser
The Rowan Blues and Jazz Society is having a “Jazz Birthday Bash” Aug. 28. This is a fundraising event in the form of a birthday celebration for Eleanor Qadirah, founder and president of the Rowan Blues and Jazz Society. It will be at the Looking Glass Artist Collective’s blackbox theatre, 405 N. Lee St. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the event starts at 8 p.m. There will be dancing to live music by the Salisbury Swing Band with singer Carol Harris. There will also be festival items, special beverages and other activities. Tickets are $10. Proceeds will go to the Rowan Blues and Jazz Society to help finance the Rowan Blues and Jazz Festival which will be held Oct. 10. For more information go to www.rowanbluesandjazz.org.

Salisbury Brass -upcoming afternoon performance
Salisbury Brass will be offering a mid-afternoon performance 2:15 p.m. Monday, July 13, in the Looking Glass Artist Collective black box theater. The concert is free.
Amadeus Summer Sessions music camp for ages 8-18
It’s not too late to register for music camp, for ages 8-18, being held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at LGAC July 6-10 and 13-17. The cost for Amadeus members or children of LGAC members is $100 for both weeks or $50 for one week. Cost for all others is $125 for both weeks and $75 for one week.
